Intel SSR212 series storage servers

The Intel Storage Server SSR212 series is designed to be a multipurpose storage server; one they say can be classified as "multipurpose white boxes". These servers are desgned to work as DAS (Direct Attached Storage), NAS (Network Attached Storage) as well as SAN (Storage Area Network) servers. The SSR212 series of servers currently include the Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2, the Intel® Storage System SSR212CC, the Intel® Storage System SSR212PP based on EMC AX150* technology, and the Intel® Storage System SSR212MA.
Intel also offers the Intel® Entry Storage System SS4000-E for homes, and small businesses that need more storage (upto 2 TB) at low costs.

The Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2 functions as an application server, a storage server or a combination. Small businesses can partition the system to run multiple applications in a single small form factor server along with enough internal storage to meet their needs — in simple terms, use it as an all-in-one unit. It takes upto 12 SATA (Serial ATA) or SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) disks, and can reach a storage capacity of upto 9 TB, and comes in a small 2 Rack unit size.

The Intel® Storage System SSR212PP is a highly scalable storage system that can be used as DAS or SAN, and offers features from EMC, the world leader in storage solutions. This storage device can reach upto 6TB with SATA II disks, and has iSCSI and Fibre Channel options to achieve whopping data transfer speeds of upto 2 GB/sec.
